Scanned Music - full sets or replacement pages
We are always eager to accept help in adding music to the website. If you are able to provide crisp black and white scans of the music, we would happily accept them on behalf of the Scans website.
Here are some issues that need to be considered:
Ideally the scanning should be done in black and white at 300 dpi and saved
in bitmap (1-bit) or PDF format. These are the files that we can readily accept
for posting to the website. Please adjust contrast and brightness to make notes
as black as possible and the background as white as possible when making
scans.
Some files do not handle well on the website for the following reasons:
| Greyscale |
Grayscale carries much more data than needed. |
| Color |
Color scans are enormous by comparison to bitmap files.
Images scanned in color and later converted to black and white often carry artifacts
that show up on the background so pages require a disproportionate amount of time to
prepare for posting. |
| JPG files |
JPG files often carry color data even though they appear to be black and white. |
Hard Copies (originals or photocopies)
full sets or replacement pages
Please contact us to determine the best way to share hardcopy.
Transposed Parts
Here's a way to pay it forward when using music from BandMusic PDF. Share
the transposed parts you've created for your band, either as PDF copies or hard
copy.
See Style sheet for Creating New Parts for the preferred layout.
Send these to BandMusic PDF and we'll share them with the world in your name.
